Mary Kay Cosmetics – Avoid Making The Biggest Mistake And Become Successful

Are you considering joining the network marketing company Mary Kay Cosmetics, or have you already joined? Have you heard about the 95 % high failure rate? Now, this doesn’t mean that you can’t succeed – the failure rate isn’t 100 %, right? Well, I have written this article to make sure that you don’t end up like 95 % of the people in this industry. I want to emphasize the BIGGEST mistake you can make, and try and lead you in the right direction towards success.

We have all heard that making mistakes is human, and I believe it is – it is what helps us develop as persons and we become wiser in life. BUT with that said – learning from other’s mistakes can be just as good. There is absolutely no reason making the same mistake that SO many people have already made – including myself.

Joining Mary Kay Cosmetics, most have a dream about becoming financially independent, and that is certainly not unrealistic, because that is the opportunity that every network marketing company brings along with it. Unfortunately this remains a dream for 95 % of the people who joins. That is a lot of people, and I know for a fact that the reason for this high failure rate isn’t caused by lazy people – believe me, most people go into this, ready to do ANYTHING to succeed. So what is that they do? They take in all the advices they get from their upline and the company and they start making a list of all the people they know, they hand out business cards, they buy a replicated website and they bring people to hotel meetings. Now THAT is the biggest mistake that anyone can make when joining Mary Kay Cosmetics – or any other network marketing company. Too many people go into this industry thinking that it’s going to be easy, and it’s NOT! And using the techniques that have been proven wrong THOUSANDS of times every single day does not make any sense.

But what should you do? What is it that those 5 % does? Why is it that they succeed? To give you the simple explanation – they do three things that separate them from the 95 % who fails.

1. They forget all about what the company or their upline have EVER told them, and they recognize that doing something that has been proven wrong for SO long is a waste of their time.

2. They seek information elsewhere. They find the right information and learn how to become great marketers and how to grow their business.

3. They grow their business!!! They take the time to treat their business as a real business and they know that it takes effort to become financially independent – and they know that it will never be easy to succeed.

If you mix the above with a true want and desire you have success! So, if you want to become successful with Mary Kay Cosmetics, or ANY other network marketing company, you have to ask yourself whether you are ready to follow those three steps. If you still think that it will be easy to succeed and that you can do it by using the methods the company is teaching you, you will end up wasting your time. But if you are ready to do things right – do it!

Chemical Components of Cosmetics

People have been using cosmetics since the time period of the ancient civilizations. Women in ancient Egypt have used kohl as eye shadow. Cleopatra allegedly bathed in milk for a whiter and softer skin. Later during the medieval period, Greek women even used toxic lead carbonate to whiten their complexion just to be in the fad. Cosmetics have become an essential part of most people’s lives that manufacturers have made a source of living from it. It may be possible that all people, regardless of age, sex and culture must have used any form of cosmetics.

Cosmetics technically refer to substances or products intended to be applied on the external parts of the body including teeth and mouth. Cosmetics are used either to cleanse, to lace a nice smell, to protect and to alter the appearance. As for the chemistry of cosmetics, usual ingredients or materials used in making cosmetics are water, fragrance, emulsifier, color, preservative, pH stabilizers and thickener.

Emulsion is a concept on which most cosmetics are based. It could either be some oil droplets in water or several water droplets in oil. Water and oil never mix with each other, which is why emulsifiers are used in the process of cosmetics making. The emulsifiers prevent water from separating with oil and vice versa, thus a homogenous and evenly textured product is produced.

Preservatives are added to cosmetics so that microorganisms are prevented to grow. Bacterial or fungal growth may spoil the products and cause harm to the user. Commonly used cosmetics preservatives are tetrasodium EDTA, benzyl alcohol and parabens. Polymers are examples of thickeners added to cosmetics to achieve desired consistency. They are either natural (polysaccharides) or synthetic (polyethylene glycol). Polyssacharides are usually obtained from seaweeds in the form of carrageenans which came from red and brown algae.

The pH stabilizers affect the acidity of the cosmetics, color creates an appealing effect and fragrances make the cosmetics smell good. Moisturizers are cosmetic products used for treating dry and scaly skin. They prevent additional loss of water or moisture from the skin (occlusion) and add substances to the skin which make it able to retain moisture (humectants). Occlusive moisturizers contain alcohol and some mineral oil. Humectant moisturizers have glycerine, and fruit acids.

Surfactants added to soaps and shampoos account for the cleaning ability of the cosmetic products. Usual surfactant molecules used in cosmetics manufacturing are lipophilic (fat soluble) and hydrophilic (water soluble). Lipsticks are made with the concept of water solubility. It is made of water insoluble coloring, wax and non-volatile oil. Fake tans are cosmetic products which alter its color once it contacts the skin. Its active ingredient is a colorless dihydroxyacetone which changes colors as a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the top layer of the skin. The color produced is permanent; however the tan is also shed from the skin along with the constantly shedding skin cells.

The use of cosmetics must be done carefully because it may contain ingredients which may be harmful to the skin. Some people are allergic to makeup and other cosmetic products. The chemicals added to the cosmetics like fragrance and preservatives may cause allergic dermatitis. To determine is the skin is prone to allergies; a patch test should first be performed.

Genetically Modified Ingredients and Cosmetics

The meat and dairy sections of your local supermarket are not the only places GMO (genetically modified) ingredients show up. Beauty products often contain plant or animal ingredients with GMO derivatives.

Genetically modified organisms are plants and animals that have had specific changes introduced into their DNA through genetic engineering techniques. These modifications serve to yield higher crops or growth, or to insert a certain trait, like natural pesticide.

Still, the future results of manipulating nature are yet to be seen. Eating GMO foods have been known to disrupt the healthy bacteria in our intestines. These tiny bacteria are part of our immune system and help to protect us from disease. Even after we digest the contaminated food our bodies continue to produce pesticides from the altered food. The antibiotics in GM foods have the potential to build resistance to bacteria and could be responsible for the onset of superbugs.

While the verdict on the health and environmental risks from GMO crops is still out, avoiding GMO foods seems like a move in the right direction. Cosmetics products made with ingredients from GM crops are also good to steer clear of, but this is easier said than done.

Organic crops in the US are consistently testing positive for GMO cross-contamination. Cross-pollination from neighboring farms, GMO seed mixed in with organic seed, and misrepresentation of GMO products for organic to warrant higher prices are all to blame for the problem of cross-contamination. The most common GMO-grown crops are: Soybeans, Corn, Cotton, Hawaiian Papaya, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Rapeseed (Canola), Sugar cane, Sugar beet, Sweet corn, Rice.

Currently in Europe the only GMO crop grown is maize, approved in 1998 to be used as feed for livestock. No new GM crops have been approved for cultivation in Europe since then. Europe is not united on GMO acceptance, with several countries (France, Austria, Poland, Hungary, and Greece) banning the practice.

There is currently no law set in the US to test for GMO in organic crops and end products. The USDA has taken a position of non-accountability where GMO contamination is concerned, yet they certify organic cosmetics with the Certified Organic seal.

Because of cross-contamination of corn crops, some companies like Lavera, choose to use talc rather than cornstarch. Pure talc is a safe, naturally-occurring, nontoxic mineral that causes no skin reactions or irritations. Low-grade talc used in some cosmetics products came to light as an ingredient of concern due to asbestos contamination. All talc used in Lavera products are pharmaceutical grade, considered the purest form of talc, and asbestos free. In accordance to BDIH certification requirements, all of our products such as our natural makeup and organic skin care products are GMO free.
